OMG.. the Summer is over

The summer is way over now... School is totally in session... so, how has my life been for the past 3 weeks... in a word... BUSY!!!

I can't believe how much stuff there is to do for school... none of it is really that complicated... it's just the volume of stuff that needs to get done... I'm not totally overwhelmed yet... but I just feel like there is a ton of shit to do every minute of every day... On the bright side, all of my classes are really interesting.. my professors are really great teachers and I'm learning ALOT about finance, accouting, management, economics and well stats... LOL My study is group is totally awesome too! We have a pretty diverse group and everyone really has something to contribute... it should be a great year with them...

Well, I have to run... but hopefully, I'll have some more time soon to add some details and to post more updates...

A Relaxing Summer

It's been a number of weeks since I last posted. So, what have I been up to?

A lot of nothing... A week after leaving my job I took a trip to Cabo San Lucas with my girlfriend for a little R&R. Cabo is absoloutely amazing. We had a such a great time there. We stayed at the Sheraton, which has incredibly hospitable service, 4 heated pools with beach views, some great restaurants, and is beautifully decorated. Cabo itself has awesome beaches with lush green waters; we spent most of our time just relaxing at beach, swimming and riding the occasional wave runner. We also took a snorkeling trip to see some of the underwater life at Cabo. There is a lot of night life there too with some cheesey bars and clubs... I definitely drank way too much tequila... hahaha... Anyway, Cabo was definitely a good time!

So, what else has been going on... not much... just trying to pass my accounting assesment... and I've been playing quite a bit of poker.... I've been on a pretty decent run lately... I actually won about 600 bucks 3 days before I left for Cabo... so, that paid for all of my expenses on the trip... Hooray Poker! Once I pass my accounting assessment, I might head up to Foxwoods for some tournaments and cash games... My cousin lives close by; so, I figure I can hang with her during the day and then hit the casinos at night... =)

What else... hmm... oh... I've been to a lot of BBQ's in teh past few weeks... Seems like someone is having a BBQ every weekend this summer... Most weekends my diet consists of hot dogs, burgers and beer... yum.. =)

I guess that about sums up my last few weeks... hopefully, I'll stop being lazy and post a bit more frequently...

Free At Last Free At Last

Thank God Almighty I'm Free At Last!!!

My final day of work was this Monday. I sent in my final time report and returned my laptop. What a feeling to finally be liberated!!! I have 7 weeks of complete FREEDOM!!! Although, it's a bit sad leaving the only company I've ever worked for, but I'm looking forward to b-school (and the 7 weeks off I have before school starts).

So, what have I done so far with my time off... not much... I went to NYU with my buddy to buy some gifts for my recommneders.... and I wanted to have lunch at Taisho... only to learn they don't open till 6pm... so, we ended up eating at Caliente Cab (Mexican place), which was ok... but a far cry from the great food at Taisho... we actually wanted Chipolte, but we sort of forgot where it was then we passed by it later...

Of course, I had to go back to NYU yesterday to turn in my forms for registration, payment, and other things... way to be efficient... LOL... but it worked out ok... I met up with my girlfriend and friend for dinner in Chinatown... We had some really good Vietnamese food... I ordered the Pho (beef noodle soup dish) and the spring rolls... sooooo good... mmmmmm.... pho... I love Pho!!! fyi... the best pho I ever had was from Philly I think it was at a place called "Vietnam Restaurant"

Anyway... I get to enjoy my true passion in life tonight... I have a poker game at my friend's place... it's nice to fee!

It's 55 degrees outside

This is insane... It was 90 degrees here in the Boston area a couple of days ago... Now, it's 55 degrees outside... It feels so cold... This is insane....

Anyway, I've been teaching the new hire orientation and training for a little over a week now, and I must say I'm really enjoying myself... It's a lot of fun teaching motivated people. It's really great when they understand the concepts you're trying to convey to them.... =)

Not much else going on... just waiting to fly home Friday night and fly back out Sunday... I got upgraded to first class for my flight back out on Sunday but no upgrade so far for Friday... I think one of the best things about being a consultant is the points you accumulate and the status you acquire with airlines, hotels, and rental cars... it's nice to receive preferential treatment... =)

oh... Batman Begins came out yesterday.... it looks dope... hopefully, i'll have a chance to watch it this weekend....

you are gettin lazy on your blog

An IM message from my buddy Sully.

Yes, I've been very lazy with my blog recently. It's been over 2 weeks since I last posted. So, what's happened in the past 2 weeks...? It's been sort of quiet in terms of work. I finished up my work on the project in Chicago and transitioned my work to a buddy of mine, Wei. Wei is actually from the NY office; so, we met up a few times in the NY office to meet. We also took a bunch of lunch excursions to Chinatown to eat some good Vietnamese food. mmmmmm.... I love pho... I could eat that stuff all day... I actually had some this past Sunday and I'm thinking of having that for dinner tonight....

Now, I'm facilitating a training session for new hires in Boston... it's interesting.... my career has come full circle... I started my career attending these training sessions and now I'm facilitating one.... I had to present all day today on orientation materials, but I really enjoyed it... It's a lot of fun teaching...

So, what else... I've been watching season 4 of Alias all year.... which totally rocked... but after the season finale, I wanted to see more episodes... my gf's cousin actually had season 1 on DVD so I borrowed that and watched the entire season last week... it's soooooo good!!! My gf also borrowed season 2 from a coworker which I am slowly watching now....

I guess that's it for now.... I'll try to stop being lazy and update my blog more often.... =)

Homework Already?!

I wake up late on Saturday morning to find a package sitting in my mail from NYU. Wow! I'm excited to be getting anything from school at this point... so, I open the package to find.... homework?.... already... whoah whoah whoah... we're still a few months from pre-term even starting.... I read the letter inside to find out that I have to pass an accounting assessment.... They included a computer based accounting class and a book of problem sets... I suppose it's good to get back into the rhythm of studying and doing homework... I just didn't expect to be doing this in May.... Well, I took an accounting class in college so hopefully this material will be more like a refresher...

BTW... I saw Star Wars Episode 3 this weekend... and it was AWESOME!!! Lucas totally redeemed himself for the last 2 crappy Star Wars movies...

Taisho!

So, this week I am working from my home office in New York, and I'm really happy to be here. It's really nice to not have to get on a plane Monday morning and Thursday night and to be at home. I get to meet up with friends at night, get some errands done, and get to sleep in my own bed. You really take these little things for granted when you get to work relatively close to your home. As a consultant, these are the small things you relly learn to appreciate after being on the road for a while. I think that's one of the reasons I'm really happy to be going to NYU this fall. Not only am I attending one of the best business schools in the country, but I get to be close to my gf, friends, and family.

At this point, some of you might be wondering why in the world this post is titled "Taisho!". Well, "Taisho" is the name of this awesome yakitori place in NYC. It's actually really close to NYU. I'm meeting up with my friend for dinner and drinks there tonight. I love being in town!
